Oh. My. Goodness. Columbus fortunate to have Rooh in town, where we join Chef Sujan Sarkar’s concepts from major international cities like New Delhi, San Francisco, Chicago and London.

Where do we even begin with the food? If you are into small plates, and you should be at Rooh, we recommend the Tuna Bhel (pictured). This dish is perfectly seasoned with just a tad bit of heat. How anyone was able to pair ingredients so perfectly is mind boggling. Get a couple plates to share because we guarantee you will want more than just a bite. Another favorite is the Cauliflower Koliwada, which turns nature’s most basic vegetable into something extraordinary. For your main plate, the Butter Chicken, Rooh’s signature dish, is a no fail option. The meat is amazingly tender and the collection of flavors are other worldly. The Beef Short Ribs Curry are also a great main plate. No Indian inspired meal would be complete without naan. Our favorite is Chili Cheese, which is rubbed with spices and features a hint of cheese (move out of the way Taco Bell). And alas, save room for Salted Jaggery Ice Cream. YUM!!!!

Mouton ain’t yo’ mama’s or papa’s cocktail bar. The atmosphere is quaint (not a lot of tables) and we describe the vibe as sophisticated hipster. Mixologists are on hand to create a wide selection of drinks meant to be savored with friends and the menu is creatively designed to help point you towards a concoction of your liking. Try the “Thyme after Thyme” featuring Middle West Spirits wheat whiskey or the Midwest Escape with Honey Vanilla Vodka, Bacardi Cuatro, lemon, ginger, passion fruit, pineapple, grapefruit and bitters.

Parlor, meets apothecary, meets style shop for men. That’s Samson in a nutshell, but beyond the surface you’ll notice a distinct knack for style and quality. Friendly, knowledgeable staff help select favorites or can help remake your look altogether. Designs are classic and rustic, but what makes Samson great is the combination of staples and accessories. They also offer sleek barware for celebrating or relaxing at home, jewelry sunglasses and much more.

Having been in the Short North since 2010, Brandt-Roberts Galleries is one of the longest standing galleries in the Short North. They offer a large selection of contemporary and post-war art, featuring a diverse group of regional and national artists who work in a variety of styles and media. One of our favorite artists represented by the gallery is Cody Heichel. He paints amazing water color streetscapes. Many of which have local interest and appeal.
